"Day by day" is a finalist in the 2022 Ravenswood Australian Women's Art Prize

‘Day by day’ represents the struggle creative women have to juggle both their creative aspirations alongside the day to day demands of being both a mother and a wife. Modern women take on a lot of roles and there is always a danger that their desire to pursue a career in the arts, gets subjugated to the needs of their children and partner. The woman in my painting has her back to the audience as she has no time, or interest in their needs. She’s too busy trying to meet the demands of her family, to put her own career or artistic need for recognition first. The sculpture in the foreground and the paintings on the wall represent her ongoing artistic interest & desires.
